{"id":258,"date":"2023-06-09T17:48:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-09T15:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hannesbajohr.de\/en\/?p=258"},"modified":"2024-04-15T13:29:00","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T11:29:00","slug":"prognostications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hannesbajohr.de\/en\/2023\/06\/09\/prognostications\/","title":{"rendered":"New Installation: Prognostications"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>For the exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/collegium.ethz.ch\/about-us\/media\/data-alchemy-observing-patterns-from-galileo-to-artificial-intelligence\/prognostications-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;Data Alchemy &#8211; Observing Patterns from Galileo to Artificial Intelligence&#8221;<\/a>, curated by Liat Grayver and Adrian Notz at the Collegium Helveticum, I contributed the installation &#8220;Prognostications&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the description:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cPrognostications\u201d&nbsp;is an installation by Hannes Bajohr consisting of a plain box with a button that, when pressed, dispenses a short prediction. Generated by a computer program that is a variation of Alison Knowles\u2019s iconic electronic poem&nbsp;\u201cHouse of Dust\u201d&nbsp;(1967), the predictions combine materials, locations, and people to tell of a positive, negative, or ambiguous future. The program randomly chooses from lists of words to generate these miniature poems, using and extending Knowles\u2019s original list tenfold with the help of a machine learning algorithm.
