Hannes Bajohr [ˈhʌnəs bʌˈjɔː] was born 1984 in Berlin. He lives in Basel und Berlin. Bajohr studied philosophy, German literature, and modern history at Berlin’s Humboldt University, and received his PhD from Columbia University, New York, with a dissertation on philosopher Hans Blumenberg’s theory of language. He is assistant professor of German at the University of California, Berkeley.
Bajohr writes literary and academic texts; his research focuses on media studies, political philosophy, philosophical anthropology, and theories of the digital.
